Since the beginning, a crypto wallet has been the essential requirement for storing, buying, and selling cryptocurrencies on any blockchain. Through time, crypto wallets have evolved rapidly. From simple web extensions keeping your private keys, crypto wallets are now one-stop shops that allow you to send and receive almost any blockchain asset, participate in network governing, and enjoy the convenience of using your favorite apps built-in.
As more complex crypto transactions are involved, multi-signature (multi-sig) wallets were invented to meet the demands of blockchain-based project organizations which usually have a common operation fund to manage. A multi-sig wallet requires more than one signature to confirm an outgoing transaction, therefore nobody can use the fund without the authorization of others. Multi-sig technology has existed long before, but it is not until the advent of Bitcoin that this technology is widely applied to the blockchain and cryptocurrency world.
It is an undeniable fact that multisig wallets enable an additional layer of security when managing funds. Regardless of the number of signatures required (two, three, four, or more), multisig wallets are intentionally designed to reduce the risk of losing assets due to single-point damage or theft. Hence, many blockchains, exchanges, and wallet builders have jumped into the game to create multisig wallets to secure their user funds.

What is Pyxis Safe?
The Pyxis Safe is a web application that allows multiple people – co-owners – to manage a "Safe" – an address where digital assets of the blockchain network can be contained and transferred, just like a personal wallet. of the safe requires a consensus between co-owners, which is predetermined upon safe creation.
We developed Pyxis Safe as a part of the Aura Network project, but we decided to keep it general so that all other Cosmos-based blockchains can also use it.
Why is Pyxis Safe?
The Cosmos SDK default allows users to perform multi-signature transactions via the native multisig command when interacting with the network (example). However, we have not yet seen any mainstream consumer Dapp that supports multisign at the application level.
That's why we created Pyxis Safe - the most secure multi-sig wallet application for Cosmos!
Here are three key highlights of Pyxis Safe that you might need to know:
- Intuitive UI to perform multisign: Instead of typing a command [tx multisign], which can become more complicated if there are more than two co-owners, Pyxis Safe users can now perform multisign as easily as using a regular application. Aura Network creates an intuitive user interface for the multisign process, and the UX has been optimized too!
- Multi-chain to be supported: As Aura Network belongs to the Interchain, we will do our best to serve the rapidly-growing Cosmos community. Served as the UI for native CosmosSDK modules, Pyxis Safe is supposed to work with any Cosmos chains with minimum adaptation effort.
- Extra built-in features: Once a multisig wallet's essential elements are fully developed and enhanced, Aura Network will continue to build and integrate more features into the Safe wallet environment. Following AuraScan, Pyxis Safe is the next dApps created and developed by Aura Network - all to demonstrate our capability and commitment to Aura Community and the Interchain in general. In the future, our vision is to implement multi-signature to any application that requires it. Therefore we have planned to build our own SDK of the Pyxis Safe so the community can use it to develop their modules and applications. It would be outstanding to have an ecosystem of valuable protocols and applications that make shared asset management convenient and feasible, just as personal assets on personal wallets.
